What to Eat Before Wedding Dress Shopping

Buying a wedding dress is often one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning. It’s usually the first thing to be added to the wedding Pinterest board! That’s because it’s purely for you, you can pick a style that truly represents you and your personality. You can spend time with those that you love while picking out the perfect wedding dress. You also get to play dress ups in some of the most beautiful dresses you might ever wear! Trying on wedding dresses can leave you feeling like a princess for the day while you work out what you’ll be wearing on your wedding day!

But when you are shopping for your dress, you need to make sure you’re feeling your best. Driving all over town, potential family stress coming to the forefront, climbing in and out of structured bodices, lots of people staring at you as well as all the mirrors! Making sure you’re feeling strong, confident, and ready for the day is important. And how best to do that?

Making sure you’re well-fueled before you head out to hit the bridal boutiques and with healthy food options during the day will help make the whole experience more enjoyable. You want to avoid bloat and sluggishness. Instead, you want to eat foods that will make you feel energized and excited about finding your perfect dress. You want to avoid emotional stress that can stem from hunger and make the best decision about the perfect wedding dress for you.

What To Eat Before Wedding Dress Shopping

Breakfast

It’s a good idea to fuel yourself up before a big day of shopping. It can be exhausting so making sure you’re not going to hangry is a good idea. If you normally don’t eat breakfast, make sure you’ve got some snacks on hand. The excitement and energy of the day can drain you more than usual.

Avoid Sodium

Sodium, or salt, can increase bloating. Avoiding it isn’t quite so straight forward. A lot of the salt we consume actually comes hidden in packaged foods. Cooking for yourself and avoiding processed foods as much as possible will help cut down your sodium intake.

Fiber

This can be a tricky one. You want to ensure you’re having enough to keep you regular, but you don’t want to suddenly increase the amount on your gown shopping day as it can leave you feeling bloated. Instead, try Greek yogurt with berries for a mix of protein and fiber.

Crackers

Simple crackers are easy to carry, you can eat on the go, won’t bloat you out and you don’t have to stop for a full meal if you start to get peckish. Look for options that have a lower amount of salt to keep your sodium in check. Or pack some cheese if the idea of plain crackers is a little too boring for you.

Water

Again, you don’t want to overdo the water and be constantly in search of a bathroom. But making sure you’re well-hydrated will help you trip between all the bridal stores and enjoy the dress shopping experience.

Bananas

This high energy snack can help give you sustained energy for a big day of trying on wedding gowns. Add some peanut butter single serves to your bag to increase the fat and protein content of this ideal snack.

Wedding Dress Shopping Tips

I wanted to give you a few additional tips to make sure you’re shopping trip is as seamless as possible!

Underwear

When you’re wedding dress shopping, the last thing you want to see are your cute lilac bra straps. Wearing a nude strapless bra can help make sure you’re not distracted by straps sticking out or peeking from behind sheer fabrics. If you’re planning on wearing shapewear under your dress, wearing this for wedding dress fittings is a great idea.

Comfortable Clothes

You’re going to be climbing in and out of your own clothes all day. Make sure they’ve easy to slide on and off in the bridal store. Leggings and an over-sized tee can make you feel cute without having to deal with too many buttons and zips. This also applies to your shoes. You don’t want sock marks on your ankles. Wearing sandals you can slip on and off will make the day easier.

Open Mind

There is a balance to be held between knowing your body type and keeping an open mind. The teams in any bridal salon will be wanting to help you find the dress of your dreams. They’re also used to knowing what looks good on people, so don’t be scared to try on something that they recommend. You might surprise yourself. That being said, you do want to make sure you’re not talked into something that you don’t love by well meaning friends and family. Sure, they might love a sweetheart neckline, but that doesn’t mean you have to. Unsure what you should wear on your big day? Need some advice on styles?
