Pre Wedding Self Care

Weddings are usually such big milestones in the couple’s lives. Because of that, it’s very easy to get lost in all the necessary details and preparations.

Don’t get me wrong, I get it. There’s so much to do, so much to plan and decide, and a lot of pressure comes with it since you want everything to be perfect for your big day.

But taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of every detail of your wedding.

Making time to look after yourself and your needs can help you look and feel your best on your big day, which will make it the best day ever.

There’s no point in every detail being perfect if you forget to think about yourself - after all, it’s YOUR day, and your happiness should matter the most.

So, in this post, I’m sharing some pre-wedding self-care tips, that can help you relax, pamper yourself, and get ready for the most magical and special day of your life.

Pre Wedding Self Care

Eat good food

In the weeks before your wedding (months even) you should focus on eating good, healthy, nutritious foods. Your health is the most important thing in your life, so being healthy for your wedding day should be your priority.

By eating healthy foods, you’ll be fueling your body with energy, so you’ll not only look and feel your best on your big day, but you’ll also have the energy for it.

Workout

Another very important pre wedding self care tip, is working out. If you’re not normally physically active, this is especially important.

First of all, you will feel much better in your skin and with all of the eyes on you if you’re confident, and working out definitely helps with that. You’re beautiful no matter what, but usually, people get more confidence after they know they worked out.

But physical appearance isn’t the main reason why you should work out before your wedding (because as I mentioned, you’re gorgeous with or without working out, and you should feel gorgeous always).

The main reason is that your wedding will be a lot for you physically. You’ll basically be standing all day, as well as dancing.

So, if you’re not normally very active, you’ll be super tired before the day ends, and that’s definitely something you don’t want for your magical day.

So, find a physical activity that you like, no matter what it is - walking, running, dancing, hiking yoga, pilates, gym, and start doing it a few times a week.

Do a skincare routine

A skincare routine is something you should be doing always, not just pre wedding. But if you don’t normally do it, now is definitely the time to start.

Sure, you’ll find have makeup and get ready for your big day, but you want to glow from within!

Having healthy, glowing skin is something everyone should prioritize for their big day (and for life in general).

So, get some skin care products that work for your skin type, and find a skin care routine that works for you. You can test out different serums, creams, masks, cleansers, tonics, and so on. You can also try a roller.

Skin care should be done in the morning and before bed, so decide which parts of it you prefer to do in the morning, and which at night.

An important thing to note as well, is that SPF is very important, so include that in your skincare routine.

Get laser hair removal

This isn’t necessary, but it can definitely make your life easier. If you don’t want to stress about hair removal, or thinking about whether or not you shaved well enough, getting laser hair removal before your big day can definitely help you relax, at least regarding that part of wedding prep.

Plan your hair and makeup

Planning your hair and makeup can definitely be considered self care, since getting ready for your big day is something everyone enjoys.

First, you want to find the perfect hairdresser and makeup artist. You can do a ‘rehearsal’ with them first (if you have a birthday or an event, use that as the opportunity to test out the hairdresser and makeup artist you’d like to book for your big day), so you can confirm you’re happy with them and book them well in advance, in order to secure a spot.

If you want to change your hair color, don’t do it just before your big day - you don’t want to end up with a hair color you don’t like. Do it well in advance, so you have plenty of time to change it if you don’t like it.

Check out your local makeup artists on Instagram, and find the one you like the most. You can then book a spot to try it out first, to make sure you like their work, and to test out a look you were planning for your big day.

Get a tan

This isn’t necessary by any means, but if you want to get a tan for your big day, go for it! You can either go tan in your backyard or the beach (depending on where you live and what time of year you’re getting married) in the weeks before your wedding, or you can do a spray tan.

Think about your teeth

You don’t want to forget about your teeth! You’ll be smiling a lot on your big day, and you want your smile to look the best possible.

So, if you have any teeth to fix, go to the dentist before your big day.

If you want to do teeth whitening, that’s also something you can schedule before your wedding day.

Think about your mental health

We can’t talk about self care without talking about mental health.

It’s one of the most important parts of it.

Since planning a wedding can be very stressful (from finding the perfect dress and all of the dress fittings, to organizing the whole event), you’ll need to prioritize your mental health on many occasions. Pamper yourself whenever possible, read, take a relaxing bath, journal, watch TV - whatever makes you happy.

After all, wedding preparation should first and foremost be a time you always happily remember - not a time that is nothing but stress for you.

You should think about your mental health always, of course, not just before your wedding. But especially in the weeks before your wedding, when the stress starts getting to you, unwind, relax, and find something that relaxes you.

On the day before your wedding, take some time to take it all in - the fact that you’re getting married, how happy you are, and everything beautiful in your life.

Being happy and relaxed on your big day is the key to having an amazing wedding.
