How to Get Glowing Skin for Your Wedding

Every bride wants to look beautiful on her wedding day. Everyone’s favorite part is watching the glowing bride walk down the aisle to her expectant groom. She radiates love and joy!

The best way to ensure that you glow on your wedding day is to make sure your SKIN is glowing! It’s every bride’s dream to have gorgeous, glowing skin on her big day! You probably have a picture in your mind of exactly how you want to look in your dress and how your hair and makeup will be done. Don’t forget to include you healthy skin in that picture!

Gorgeous skin truly radiates from the inside out. The healthier you are on the inside, the healthier you LOOK on the outside. What you eat has a huge impact on your skin.

How to Get Glowing Skin For Your Wedding

1. Hydrate

Water is known to improve your complexion and give you more a more radiant skin tone.

It is important that you drink plenty of water. Water recommendations for adults range 8-9 glasses per day.

However! Foods with a large water content also count towards this recommendation - such as watery fruits and vegetables (e.g. watermelon, celery, cucumbers).

Foods can actually contribute 20% of our water requirements. So, if you're eating a well-balanced diet, you generally don't need the full 8-9 glasses.

2. Avoid Inflammatory Foods

Some foods may cause inflammation in your body. Inflammation then can translate to skin issues, like redness, puffiness and even acne.

Avoid sugar and high fructose corn syrup as much as possible. They put stress on your digestive system and cause breakouts, dark circles, sun sensitivity, and more.

It might be a good idea to avoid gluten the last several months before your wedding as well, as it has been linked to increased acne.

While I won’t tell you to avoid alcohol altogether, it might be a good idea to decrease your alcohol consumption in favor of healthier skin. Alcohol can cause inflammation in the body, and dries out your skin.

3. INCREASE ANTIOXIDANTS, ANTI INFLAMMATORIES, AND OMEGA 3

Now that you know what to avoid, how about foods that actually help your skin naturally! Foods that are high in antioxidants and Omega 3 fatty acids have incredible benefits for your skin.

Antioxidants help you rid your body of toxins that may contribute to acne and other skin issues, while Omega 3s help to give your skin extra glow.

Add some tomatoes, berries, spinach, carrots, avocados and salmon to your weekly meal plan.

Some really great anti inflammatories are green tea and turmeric. BONUS - you can often find these in your skin care products as well.

4. Check Your Gut

Eating healthy and exercising is a great way to improve gut health, but sometimes you just need more. When it comes to balancing the gut, you need to increase the good bacteria in your body with the help of probiotics.

You can get probiotic supplements, and I recommend you do, but you can also get probiotics in food, such us yogurt, kombucha or kefir.

5. Get Moving!

Exercise gets your blood flowing, which not only brings color to your cheeks, over time it will also improve your complexion. You can really improve your skin and radiate a healthy glow if you are exercising regularly. Even if you are just getting out to walk every day.

6. Wear Sunscreen

While sunshine has many benefits, including providing us with Vitamin D, too much sun exposure is not good for your skin. Sunburn and or even just repeated sun exposure can lead to health issues like skin cancer. Even if you are one of the lucky ones who avoid that, you can end up with dark spots, sometimes called sunspots. Make sure a sunscreen that is SPF30 or higher is part of your skincare routine!

7. Invest in a Good Beauty Routine

When it comes to skin care, you often get what you pay for, but the higher price tag is worth it when you see the results! Good skincare for your skin type can help you reduce fine lines and wrinkles, remove dead skin and/or dry skin and help treat oily skin, among other things. Obviously, this is something that you need to think about months in advance so all those beauty products have time to do their work.

A good eye cream can eliminate puffiness and dark circles while helping to brighten the eye area. If you have sensitive skin, make sure to choose a brand that values natural ingredients.

Recently, hyaluronic acid has become popular for reducing or even eliminating fine lines and wrinkles.

Don’t forget to moisturize! Dryness makes your skin appear dull.

8. Remember, you’re beautiful!

In my opinion, the number one source of radiant, glowing skin is confidence. If you feel good on your big day, you will absolutely glow! Your guests will see your excitement beaming through your smile!

No matter what you do to improve your skin before your wedding, make sure to believe you are beautiful (because YOU ARE) when you take that first step down the aisle to the love of your life.

Oh, and HAVE FUN! People always look happier and healthier when they are enjoying themselves! Your wedding day is an important day, but important days can be exceedingly fun if we choose to let them!
